| | | | | | | | Product Description
Victorinox has been supplying the standard issue Soldier knife to the Swiss government for their army since 1961, the military opened up new bids for a standard issue knife to press for a re-engineer and new ideas. Seven different knife suppliers competed for the open bid. Prototypes were submitted and tested. Victorinox came out on top as the best solution for the Swiss Army. The Swiss Government awarded Victorinox the exclusive contract as the official provider.
The new green Soldier knife is what troops use in the Swiss Army today. This tool is a thrilling new addition to the Victorinox line of tools. It features a high tech handle which is ergonomic and is of a dual density design to promote a sure grip in a wide range of weather conditions such as extreme cold or wet situations.
The one-hand serrated locking blade allows for fast and easy opening. The bottle opener and can opener allow one to eat a meal anywhere. The Phillips screwdriver, small screwdriver on the can opener tip and the large locking screwdriver on the tip of the bottle opener all allow for quick fixes of equipment in the field. The wire stripper, reamer, key ring and wood saw are other useful features that were deemed necessary by the military. The unique black and olive green combination handle is as handsome as it is practical.

My Swiss Army Knife Story:
The stories of daring rescues; life and death situations with amazing
outcomes all shadow my story and use of my swiss army knife. I lost the use of
my left arm and leg in 1988 in a motorcycle wreck. I received as a gift and now
carry a model 54868
Fireman one hand opener which helps with everyday tasks. It holds an edge
better than most knives I've owned in the past and the one hand opening is just
the right bonus to keep me using it .I plan on upgrading in the future to the Swiss
Tool Spirit S in black for the extra tools. One handed opening is slightly
harder with the style but the benefit of the extras will more than make up for
the slower opening.
Thanks Victorinox.
